During our residency we worked on two projects:

WLTF (We Like to Fuck,) is a gang who perform their own sexual and political fictions "by any media necessary." WLTF exists only as graphic representations of themselves (flags, posters, photography, symbols, writing, etc.,) never appearing live, because "what's the point of protest without publicity?"

Placas is a modified blackletter font inspired by Los Angeles barrio calligraphy (cholo writing) and the relationship between graffiti and graphic design, endlessly referencing one another. As graffiti uses codes of corporate branding to symbolize cultural authority, graphic design uses codes of the street to communicate cultural authenticity. Neither can be said to be co-opting the other.
